A few months ago I stopped by to get a quote on my car insurance. I was shopping around because who hasn't seen their rates go up? Oh, and for no good reason. I was told that they couldn't cover my car. I have never heard that before.

As I was talking to the agent apparently there was some Tik Tok video going around that showed people how to steal cars using an iPhone charger. Yes, something you may already have in your car. I thought this was crazy. Apparently, this only happens to certain Kia's and Hyundai's.

So I went about my life after I found insurance elsewhere with no problem. That was until I got this letter in the mail. It was what they were doing about the theft issue. Ok, something from my car manufacturer. So it was true. Not just a Tik Tok scam. Cars were being stolen.

Great. I could stop by the dealership and get a FREE steering wheel lock. What immediately popped into my mind? Is it going to be like The Club? You remember back in the day. The Club was a great way to keep your car from being stolen. Is this what I was going to go and pick up?

I called Amarillo Hyundai and asked them about it. The girl I talked to I could tell was rather young. I asked if they had the device in stock and if it was like The Club. I could tell she paused and tried to explain what it was. Yep, sounded like The Club to me.

When I got there to pick it up I told her I thought she had no idea what The Club was and she laughed. She did not. Oh, The Club, I told her was a big thing back in the late eighties and early nineties. I never owned one.

Was that about to change? She took down some of my information and presented me with my new steering wheel device. Oh, the beauty of what it actually was. Even though there was no name brand.

It was in fact, basically The Club in all its glory. I can now say I am taking a trip back in time. The good news is my car will not be stolen now. I guess.
