The former Payless store in Amarillo near Tascosa High School has been sitting empty for a pretty long time. The building sat for sale or lease for a while. When it finally sold, it sparked plenty of buzz.

From Empty Payless to New Tenant

And I mean that in every possible way. The talk originally came from employees at the McDonald's next door who flat out asked the construction workers who was moving in. They told them it was going to be an Adam & Eve store.

Rumors Begin to Swirl

I’m not a prude in any way, shape, or form, but the location of an adult toy store being in that location seemed like it was weird. There are daycares around the corner on Wolflin. We already mentioned that Tascosa High School was nearby.

Maybe the construction workers were just messing with the McDonald’s employees who asked. Certainly, that was not what was going into this Amarillo location, right? I have never been to an Adam & Eve store, but apparently, not everyone can just walk in. They do ID everyone through the doors. So the kids nearby will not see anything if one does open here.

The Mystery Deepens

The mystery lingered. What is going in at that location? Is it really going to be an Adam & Eve store? One that caters to adults? Is that really what is happening? It looks like it is not a mystery anymore when a certain car was spotted outside the location at 1920 S Western.

It was not only the car outside that gave it away, but a quick Google search sealed the deal. The listing is live, and yes, we are getting an Adam & Eve Store. So the mystery in Amarillo has definitely been solved.
