The thing I love about delivering food in Amarillo, besides the extra money, is the stories I end up having. There is always something weird or fun that happens. I meet some interesting people too.

When I talk to people about my going out and delivering, I always tell them why I do it. I always say I like the extra money, but really it also gives me some great radio stories. There is never a dull day. Whether there is an issue with picking up something at a restaurant, there may be a long wait, or items having to be cancelled.

The majority of my stories come once I leave the restaurant. The stories I have about weird drop off places. Locations I can't find are story-worthy too. There are animals that I encounter, people coming to the door in just a towel, yep, that happened. Even the hoops I have to jump through to find the door. Oh, the stories stack up.

Recently I had a delivery that I had to pick up from Chipotle and deliver to a hotel. I usually like hotel deliveries because out-of-towners tend to tip better. I noticed a problem right away with this delivery. So I tried to address it right away.

I had the hotel name, I had the address, and two room numbers. The two different room numbers were at least on the same floor, but it was still a problem. There was one room number given when the customer put in the address, they included one room number.

Then the second room number was given when he included the delivery instructions. So who knows which was the correct one. So I messaged him right away. I didn't want it to slow me down once I got the food.

I also thought maybe he would appreciate the fact that I went to the trouble to divert disaster and a delivery to the wrong room. Maybe, just maybe that would increase my tip.

I did finally get the correct room number so I figured this was going to go well. I got the food and headed to the hotel for dropoff. I made it to the correct room and then headed to my car to confirm drop off.

I always wait to confirm my order until I am safely in my car just in case something happens on the way to my car. If the order is confirmed, DoorDash has no idea I am still at that location. If I am still in the middle of the delivery, they know. It's a safety thing for me.

So when I hit confirm, the sad realization hit that it didn't matter. He didn't tip me anyway. That was my third no-tip delivery in a row. So I took my losses and went home. I don't have time for this anyway.
