Dasher Diary: Why This Specific Pizza Delivery Had Me Double-Checking the Map

When I started delivering in Amarillo a few years back, I wanted to make a little extra money. I knew it would be interesting to see what a job like that would entail. I would run into interesting customers. Interesting stuff would happen at restaurants while I was waiting.

There would be much to bring back and write and talk about. I knew that the traffic would play a part in my daily trek out. The weather would play a role. I would run into both friendly and not-so-friendly pets.

The Tipping Divide: Sweet Customers vs. The "No-Tip" Crowd

The customers would vary, too. Some would be overly sweet. Some would be cranky, and then there would be some I never had to deal with. I would just pick up their food and drop it off.

Navigating the Elements: Traffic, Weather, and Amarillo Pets

Of course, a job like this would let me see the different customers who appreciate us letting them stay at work or home while we get out in the elements and wait for their food. Those would be the ones that tip. Then there are those who expect the service for minimum pay, thinking we should simply 'get a better job' if we want more. Those are the ones that never tip. We know who you are.

The one thing I didn't expect was the fun I would have making those deliveries. Some are just funny. I get it, sometimes I have to pick up from one restaurant and deliver to another. I am sure an employee gets tired of their own food options and has to get something different.
