Dasher Diary: Amarillo Drivers Say DoorDash’s New Rule Wastes Too Much Time
It seems every time that Amarillo delivery drivers get used to something, DoorDash changes things up. Sometimes the changes are good, and life goes on. Then there are those new hoops they make us go through, and they just make you shake your head.
Some of those changes start happening, and after a few weeks, they are gone. It seems even DoorDash realizes its hoops were stupid. They used to ask us to have the restaurant open the sealed bags and show us each item in the bag. I get why they want that to happen, but come on.
Drivers Say the Rule Is Slowing Deliveries
No restaurant wanted to do that, and if they were busy, they would just laugh at us. I got to where I didn't even ask. I am sure I was not the only one who thought this was crazy. We just had to wait for DoorDash to come to its senses.

It seems this new change is a total time-suck. In the past, on some orders they wanted us to confirm every order was in the bag. If the bag is sealed like they normally are you select "can't verify the order" and verify that the bag is sealed.
What DoorDash’s New Requirement Involves
At this same point in time, on occasion, you would get the request to take a photo of the receipt on the bag. You had to make sure the photo showed the customer's name. This was to protect the Dasher, or so they said.
Why This Change Frustrates Amarillo Dashers
Recently, I went out to deliver in Amarillo, and every order not only wanted me to verify but also wanted me to take a photo. This new request is such a waste of time. There are so many buttons to push to take you to the new screen for the new request.

It is just ridiculous. Again, it was not just a few orders here and there. I delivered to eight different customers in one day, and each delivery requested this. It wasted so much time.
