Growing up in Amarillo, there are a lot of things to do. One of the fun things was camping. I admit it, I'm not a person who usually likes to rough it, but camping has been something I've always enjoyed growing up.

The one thing I didn't realize is how much work it really is. From all of the supplies you need to the setup. There is a lot involved. Yes, all good things involve work. Going through all the hassle of buying gear only to discover your kids hate sleeping on the ground is a major disappointment.

What a punch in the gut that would be. That is why Amarillo Parks and Recreation is giving you the chance to find out how much your family would enjoy camping for one night. A totally free night. You will know after that if they love it or hate it.

What is Provided: Gear and On-Site Staff

Don't worry if you don't have the equipment; that will be provided. All you have to do is show up and get ready to test the waters. There will be a lot of fun camping activities like s'mores and movies. Naturally, the evening wouldn't be complete without traditional campfire songs and stories.

Families will enjoy setting up camp, cooking outdoors, making s’mores, watching a movie under the stars, and participating in fun nature activities together. This overnight event is held in a safe, secure park location with staff on-site throughout the entire experience. All ages are welcome!
