A lot of times, what brings a group of friends together in Amarillo is sports. It could be that your kids play on a team together. Maybe you are in a league with a bunch of people, and you start hanging out.

You can hang out and have a cold one while you are watching football, baseball, or even the Olympics. The possibilities are endless. Sports, though, tend to bring friends together or at least introduce you to new ones.

If you have ever played fantasy sports, that can be a whole lot of fun. If you want to be good at it, it could also mean a whole lot of work. Checking the current stats, making sure you switch out players if they are injured or have a bye week. You can't just set your roster and then forget about it.

I mean, you can if you don't mind finishing last or close to it. That can be a whole different embarrassment. Sometimes it means you have to take the heckling of the other guys in your league. Sometimes it can mean a lot more, as we found out over the weekend.

The Sight at 45th and Western: Who Was the Man in the Dress?

If you follow the "Who's this bad driver in Amarillo" group, you may have seen the early post on this situation over the weekend.

S/O to the guy wearing a dress at 45th and Western holding a sign what says "I suck at fantasy football" while your friends stand across the intersection and laugh. Thank you for the laugh. You're a good sport! - Abby

If you drove near 45th and Western on Sunday, February 8th, you may have seen a comical sight of this guy wearing a green dress, heels with socks almost up to his knees. The kicker was the sign that he was holding, "I suck at fantasy football".

The "Toilet Bowl": How Mario Randal Sealed His Fate

The guy's name is Mario Randal. Mario plays fantasy football as part of the Weekend Warriors league. The Commissioner is Alan Nordstrom. I reached out to Alan and got the scoop.

Yes, ma'am, he (Mario) finished last. We have a loser bracket called the "Toilet Bowl", so whoever loses that is the overall loser, which this year was Mario.

That is what sealed Mario's fate, that and a vote early on.

We all vote at the beginning of the season on which punishment the loser will do. This particular one is our special one we do every 5 years. This is his first time losing and I have a good feeling he will pay attention to his lineup better next season, lol.

The best part is what a good sport Mario was while he was taking his punishment. There is a video of him crossing the busy intersection as his fantasy league buddies cheered him on from across the street. Mario had a smile on his face most of the time.

Dressing the Part: A Quick Trip to Ross for the Final Blow

On one post, I saw there was someone who said that the dress needed to be pink, but according to Alan, they were limited on options at Ross. I am sure finding the perfect dress that fit Mario was fun as well. Did he try it on at Ross or just grab one, hoping for the best?

Good Vibes Only: Amarillo’s Reaction to the Viral Punishment

It was great seeing it blow up on social media over the weekend. Alan was not expecting that:

Yes, I was shocked by how much it blew up, was not expecting that at all. But it was nothing but good vibes from everyone.

Just a group of guys having a good time in Amarillo before the big game. One in a dress and Amarillo waving and cheering him on for being a good sport. The way it should be.
