We are so crazy about our food that we will even wait for hours to get a taste of a new place. We saw that recently with the return of Long John Silver's. It’s not the only place Amarillo residents have lined up for—just the most recent.

This is all to prove how much Amarillo loves our food. We rejoice when we get new places. We mourn when some places close. We take our food really seriously. With any real serious foodie, we have to discuss challenges.

The Challenge That Put Amarillo on the Map

Anyone who has driven on any highway leading to Amarillo has seen the signs about our 72 oz. Steak Challenge and The Big Texan. It's a lot of food. Just seeing it in person is overwhelming. Knowing that people are always attempting and winning.

Competitive Eaters Take It to the Limit

Heck, I even watched Molly Schuyler, competitive eater, devour four of them in one sitting. So it happens. Amarillo does have other food challenges.

We can try hot foods like wings and burgers. We can even see how much we can actually eat, like the pho challenges and many pounds of pizza. We like to be challenged, and sometimes we win those challenges, and sometimes it is just great to try.
