Amarillo Summer Job Prep: How Your Teen Can Get A Head Start On Lifeguarding
When I think of summertime in Amarillo, I think of the swimming pool. I grew up going to Southwest Park Swimming Pool several times a week during the summer months. I really hope they get that pool up and running again. That is my two cents on that one.
Spending so much time at the pool, I always wanted to be a lifeguard. I thought that was the coolest summer job. It was never something that I got to experience, but time ran out on me accomplishing that.

If that seems like a pretty cool job for someone you know, now is the perfect opportunity to have them start working on that dream with Amarillo Parks and Recreation's upcoming Jr. Guard.
The Reality of Lifeguard Training
It's where they can get a taste of what being a lifeguard is all about. It's more than sitting there on the chair working on your tan. There is a tremendous amount to learn about water safety, scanning techniques, and actually saving lives.
