Neon Slugfest Brings Glowing VW Fun to Amarillo

Who did not grow up around Amarillo with a love for Slug Bugs? I mean, as a kid, they gave you a fun game of getting to hit your siblings. Most of the time, you've got to do that without getting in trouble. I mean, it's just a game, right?

Slug Bugs have been around forever, and their design has changed over the years. The one thing that doesn't change is how much we love seeing them on the road, even if we don't have a brother or sister nearby to slug.

A Nostalgic Amarillo Tradition

They are just really neat vehicles, which didn't surprise me when Street Volkswagen on Soncy started putting together a Slug Bug car show. What is better than a parking lot of Volkswagen Bugs? The show isn't limited to just Bugs. You will see all types of great Volkswagens as you walk around the parking lot for this great event.

Join us Saturday, October 18th, from 10 AM–4 PM for our 12th Annual Calling All Slug Bugs Car Show at Street Volkswagen!

This year’s theme is all about the neon glow, bright rides, good vibes, and tons of fun for the whole family!

What to Expect at the Festival

Street Volkswagen goes all out for this event with live music from Neon Heartland. There will also be local food trucks when you get hungry. You can make sure you get the kid's face painted. The best part is that this event is free to attend.

Why Locals Love This Event

I have been to this event several times over the years. It was always the highlight of our multi-mile walks around Amarillo. We would walk to this event every year from Market Street on Georgia. We would check out the cars and fuel up with lunch before we headed back.
