Oh No, Lights Out and Doors Locked at Amarillo, Texas Convenience Store
Once upon a time here in Amarillo, there were not a lot of choices when it came to convenience stores in our city. Now it seems there are plenty to choose from. In the past year or so we have seen the up in the convenience store game.
We saw the doors at Buc-ee's open at the end of the year. We have seen a couple of Quick Trips open their doors. We have a few Circle K's too. That being added to the Pak a Sak's and Toot N Totum's. We even saw an addition of Yesway, who bought out the Allsups in the area. That meant Allsups Burritos in our city.
Oh, how the convenience store playing field has spread out and evened out. It's nice to see. The downside is sometimes we see one unexpectedly close. I received a text recently from a friend about a recent closure.
The Pak A Sak at 58th and Western is closed up tight. The gas pumps are not on. The doors are locked. Nobody's inside. There are no cars there. All of the lights are off and there's not a sign on the door.
This is the Pak A Sak that is in the same parking lot as the shutdown of Market 33. The Dollar General in that same shopping center is closed as well. With the growth of everything happening at 58th and Georgia just up the road that may have hurt this area of our city.
It probably didn't help this location that a newer Pak A Sak was put in just up the road as that talked about 58th and Georgia locations. That area is booming. So it leaves that whole shopping center at 58th and Western as a ghost town. Maybe someone has bought it out. If not they should.
Just know if you frequent the Pak A Sak on 58th and Western, they are closed. You will have to travel a mile up the road to the location at 58th and Georgia. We will keep an eye on what might be happening at that empty 58th and Wester corner lot.
Even better things may be coming.
