The animal shelters in Amarillo are packed. They are overloaded with animals who deserve a second shot at life, and they don't have any room to take more.

Amarillo Animal Management and Welfare is participating in the "Clear The Shelters" program from August 10 through September 10, and the goal is to get as many animals in the shelter forever homes.

Samantha Bennett, AAMW's outreach manager told KAMR Local 4, “People frequently come into the shelter and I know they’ll find the perfect match for their family. These dogs in here are incredible and just because they are in the shelter at the moment doesn’t mean that they won’t contribute wonderfully to somebody’s household.”

And she's absolutely right. This is an opportunity to find that perfect fit for your family, and the love you give to that animal will be reciprocated.

Well, it's going to be super cheap and it's all for getting these animals to homes. The cost to adopt a dog will only be $25, while adopting a cat will only set you back $5. Yes, you saw those prices right.

With that price, your new pet will be microchipped, spayed or neutered, and will have all the necessary vaccinations needed.
