It's been a long wait but in Amarillo, we can shop again. Kohls has been closed since the summer due to a flood. This had nothing to do with all the rain we were getting. No, Kohl's had bigger issues.

They had pipes burst that not only shut them down but also temporarily closed Dollar Tree too. It took Kohl's a lot longer to be able to open those doors again. In fact, they opened back up last week.

They had a soft opening then a ribbon cutting and an official grand re-opening at the end of the week. They had a lot of work that was done. They had to redo the store. The staff had to be hired and trained.

Was it going to feel like a whole new Kohl's? Was Sephora still going to be a part of the brand? Would they still have two areas for checkout? What was going to change?

One of the first things I noticed is that when you walk in you will notice there are not checkout lanes on both sides of the stores anymore. They had stopped using one side anyway before the flood so it made sense.

They have the traditional checkout locations that are set up differently than before. It's one big area with different registers instead of separate registers and lanes. You can also now self-checkout if you prefer.

They have an area in front of the traditional registers for that. They moved the kids toy section from the back of the store. The toys are located near the front now. Then the kids clothing.

Don't worry Sephora is still a big part of Kohl's. You can still get your beauty supplies. That has not changed. The store seemed more open and brighter to me. I enjoyed walking around and checking out the changes.

I didn't notice anything that was missing. They didn't try to be to fix what wasn't broken. I mean except for the pipes and the store. Everything seemed to still be there. Just moved around a little bit.

Amarillo Kohl's Finally Back Open for Business

Kohl's has been closed since early summer. After a lot of work and time they are back open in time for holiday shopping.
