It seems like I went back in time recently. I asked the question wanting to know which Amarillo restaurant was gone and you really missed having it here. Oh wow the answer's took me all over Amarillo.

I have lived here since 1986 so a lot of these I remember. Just hearing the names brought back fond memories and meals I wish I could have again. If anyone here in Amarillo is looking for a business opportunity all you have to do is find the old menus from some of these places and reopen them. I think Amarillo would go crazy.

The first restaurants that came to mind when I was asking this question for me are Gardski's and Ruby Tequila's. I use to work at both of these. I remember watching the tortilla's being made back in the kitchen through the glass from the dining room at the Ruby's on Paramount. Remember when that was a thing?

How about that cheese rolls at Gardski's? Oh and the daily drink specials. The Summer Lime salad was a big hit. Even the handmade fried cheese sticks and the handmade ranch, I can taste them both right now.

A lot of us miss spending St Patrick's Day or really any day at Bennigan's. Remember how that used to be? How about the birthday celebrations at Joe's Crab Shack? Those were always fun. The staff made it that way.

If you never had the chance to try the enchilada's at Country Pride you really missed out. There are some copy cat recipes I found that are really close but you can't beat the original. When I visit my daughter in Dallas we always stop at the Grandy's. I miss their chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken. Oh yeah.

Her are the other's that made the list:

  • The Beef Rigger
  • Leal's
  • Cattle Call
  • Sutphens
  • Char Kel
  • Taco Caban
  • Johnny Carino's
  • Harrigans
  • BL Bistro
  • Steak & Ale
  • Paradise Too
  • Panchos
  • Shakey's Pizza
  • The Black Eyed Pea
  • Santa Fe
  • All The Fixin's
  • Zookini's
  • The Kettle
  • Montana Mikes

How many of these great long gone restaurants do you remember going too? Which ones would you love to have back? Are we missing any?
