Amarillo, Texas Restaurant’s ‘For Sale’ Sign Down: What’s Next?

We all love the guessing game that comes anytime a business closes in Amarillo. It leaves an empty location that we hope will not be empty for long. Will we be getting a new restaurant? What type of business will be moving in?

Then it also has us questioning if they will just renovate the former building or if they will tear it down and start fresh. So many things we sit and wonder. Sometimes the areas sit empty for a long time.

Sometimes they get new ownership and things just start moving. We get excited to welcome whatever is moving in. A recently closed place in Amarillo has started the conversation again.

The start of the school year in 2024 left us with a familiar face going away. It didn't take long for the signs to come down from the restaurant and the for sale sign to go up. We wondered what might happen to the Denny's location on Georgia Street.

It's a good location. Anything on Georgia Street sees some traffic. It led us to wonder what could happen in the empty building and lot.

Just recently I was talking to a friend and she asked me if I noticed the for sale sign was gone. Wait, what? It is? I hadn't noticed so I had to check it out myself. Yep, it seems that the sign is down. So who may have bought it?

Who Took Over the Denny's Location on Georgia Street?

The answer is still a mystery. It looks like a new realty company took it over at the end of the year. I am not sure what that means. Are they going to try to sell it or are they going to add a shopping strip mall like we have seen go in all over Amarillo?
