We have had some really warm days in Amarillo already. It's not even summer yet, but the heat has been here. That is the thing about Amarillo weather. You never know what you are going to get, and even if you did, you might get it all in one day.

We can see all of the seasons in one day. That is not a shock in this area. We can see snow way into spring, like we did a couple of weeks ago. So the weatherman in our area have a tough job, that is for sure.

When it comes to enjoying the outdoors and all that it offers, we have to remember not to move so fast. It can always change. That is why a lot of the time, the warning is to not start planting the gardens until at least Mother's Day Weekend. That is when we are usually safe.

As the school year is getting closer and closer to ending, we start dreaming of those summer adventures. We start to look forward to those long nights outside in the summer heat. We also want to find a way to cool off. One way we have enjoyed cooling off is taking the family to the city splash pads.

When Do The Splash Pads Open in Amarillo?

The splash pads are opening soon. We are getting ready. The best part about the splash pads is the affordability. You can find the fifteen Amarillo splash pads at many city parks. Enjoying them is free. You can't beat that.

Just like the theory that it's best to wait until Mother's Day weekend to plant those gardens, it's also a great time to enjoy the splash pads. That is when they officially open for the summer.

According to Dave Henry with the City of Amarillo:

Splash pads are open daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. from May 10 to September 1. Bones Hooks splash pad closes every Monday for maintenance.

Get out and enjoy the city splash pads this summer at one of their fifteen splash pads in Amarillo:

The time is almost here to cool off at an Amarillo splash pad.
