Amarillo Update: What Does This Mean for Cool Cats Snow Cones?
Back in March, I asked the question about this Amarillo business. I noticed that the property that Cool Cats Snow Cone Stand is on was bought. I noticed that an Exxon Gas Station was then moving in.
It then led me on a journey where I found out that Cool Cats Snow Cone Stand was going to be fine. They had new owners after the previous owner, Billy Wall, passed away. The new owner, Sandy Molina, reached out and she let us know early this year that Cool Cats wasn't going anywhere.
They got a new building and every time I would drive by I would look to see how they were doing. It brought a smile to my face to see the cars and the happy people getting a snow cone. It reminded me of all the summer nights I would visit that stand with my own daughter.
When I talked to Sandy about the Exxon moving into that property she had told me that they would be ok. They were going to be able to stay. When was the Exxon moving in? That was the question. I think that sign had been there for a couple of years. It seemed like a long time.
Then all of a sudden it was gone. What does that mean? I was just driving around recently and again looked over at Cool Cats and that is when it hit me. That Exxon sign was gone. There were new signs in its place.
The land is up for sale again. That means that Exxon is no longer moving in there. That means that we have to wait to see what is going to happen. It is a good prime area on Ross.
I just again ask the question, what is going to happen to Cool Cats when someone buys it? I sure hope that the owners keep them there. They have been a part of the community and that neighborhood for as far back as I can remember.
