Here’s Why the Georgia Street Whataburger Is Closed
When you do as much driving around Amarillo as I do, you notice things. When you are out and about delivering food, you notice even more. When a Texas favorite restaurant closes, people start talking.
For a while now, there have been bigger vehicles in the Whataburger parking lot on Georgia. There have been people on the roof, but they were still open. They are not right now. According to their Google listing, it is a temporary thing.
Why Amarillo’s Whataburger Closed This Week
Recently, I saw the question being asked on social media about why they are closed. There are always the funny ones jumping in, giving no actual information; they are just trying to get a laugh.
Then there are people who have it kind of right. There were several who said they were doing a remodel. I mean, that makes sense. There are workers there, and with Chick-fil-A across the street doing the same thing, it could be a trend.

The answer that made the most sense came from an employee. Sure, they know. That area did get hit last month with a lot of hail. I know that I am in need of a new roof. If you drive around Wolflin or Bivins, you notice how many roofing signs are in yards. A lot of new roofs have gone up.
When Will Whataburger Reopen?
That is what looks like is happening at Whataburger. The closing is only temporary, and they should be open again next week.
No they are doing our roof, we are closed for a week won’t be open until next Monday! - Reyna
The good thing is that Amarillo has several other options to get your Whataburger fix. You just may have to drive a little bit more until they reopen.
