Amarillo’s Favorite Fair Food Stuffed Sopapilla Back For One Day
When I walked around the Tri-State Fair this year in Amarillo I do remember thinking to myself how I could really go for a stuffed sopapilla right about now. I remembered the deliciousness that St. Matthew's would serve up every year.
Those sopapillas were something we would talk about any time we discussed our favorite foods at the fair. Those sopapillas were that good. The sauce that was served with them was even better. I don't know how they make it that good. I heard they do bottle it and sell it. I will have to find out about that. If true I need that in my life.
If you want those stuffed sopapillas and that hot sauce back in your life you are in luck. If you found yourself missing them as you got all of your other fair food then you are in luck. This Saturday you need to put a stop to St. Matthew's on your list of things to do.
Not only will you get a great meal but you will also help St. Matthew's with one of their fundraisers for the fall. You will not leave hungry that is for sure. Back for one day and one day only - St. Mattew's is bringing the fair favorite back to Amarillo.
I got the good news over the weekend when Pastor, Emanuel Burgos, sent me this:
St. Matthew's stopped serving them back in 2020 when the Pandemic hit and they haven't returned back to the fair since. St. Matthew's does bring them out of retirement a couple of times a year.
Nothing is better than that sopapilla stuffed with meat and potatoes. You will get that and plenty of that great sauce. Not only that but you will get a serving of rice and beans. Lunch will be taken care of on Saturday with just a trip to St. Matthew's - 1631 S Roberts. They really hope to see you there.
