Amarillo’s Latest Casualty Hits this Fast Food Restaurant

Earlier this summer Amarillo and the world heard about the woes of Arby's restaurants. They were filing for bankruptcy and there would be some locations closing. At the time it didn't seem like it was going to touch any of our places in Amarillo. Ok, things were looking good.

We even had a discussion here at work about how many Arby's locations we had. There is the one on Western Street in front of Ashley Furniture. Amarillo has one on Ross Street. There is also one on I40 and Coulter. The last one was probably the newest one that was located on Coulter near Hillside.

When that discussion happened my boss made the comment that it didn't matter how many we had until they had the potato cakes back. So we got to let him know that in fact they did come back this summer. So see some good things came from the Arby's discussion.

On Friday I saw a friend of mine post on social media about one location closing.

Stopped by Arby’s on Hillside and Coulter earlier for a quick bite on my way home and the lady at the window informed me that today was their last day in operation and they’d be closing at 10. Not that it’s a local place we are losing but another one biting the dust, just here to inform the masses - Marissa

It was about this time back in 2020 when they first announced the addition of this location.

After the last beef and cheddar was served on Friday this sign was posted on their door.

Luckily we still have other locations to visit. You just will have to travel a little further. Long live the potato cakes.
