The main street of Amarillo College's Washington Street campus has been shut down since before Thanksgiving. That means for the spring semester 24th Street has been closed.

The traffic was stopped in the area so that they could put in a roundabout and help the flow of traffic. After many months the average onlooker was able to finally figure out what was going on. The roundabout just got the finishing touches with a flower bed to make it look all pretty.

Now just in time for the fall semester to get ready to start there is some good news coming from the college campus. The roundabout is finished. The streets of Amarillo College are reopened. The traffic can flow again. That is especially important for all the residents in the area. The days of having to detour to 22nd Street are behind us.

Just in time for the students to figure out how to use a roundabout. I guess they can be tricky the first time to come upon one. What is this sorcery is what comes to mind. A roundabout is supposed to help the traffic flow smoother.

Amarillo has several around the city. There are several newer neighborhoods that have implemented the roundabout. Heading to Cinergy Entertainment long ago was the first time I encountered my first roundabout. So here we are. We, as a city are learning. This roundabout even has a sign so you know how to use it.

Now the students of Amarillo College will get the same luxury. The streets are all open. The traffic can flow again. All of this is done just in time for the upcoming semester. Over eight months of detours and longer walks and here we are.

Welcome to a smoother semester.
