We started talking recently at work about armadillos. The conversation was about how many we could actually find in Amarillo. I am assuming you can find some at the Amarillo Zoo. I will have to let you know as we make a trip there sometime this week.

It will be my first trip to the Amarillo Zoo. I am looking forward to taking my granddaughter. She loves all kinds of animals. All kids seem to love trips to any zoo. So besides the zoo where else can you find armadillos?

Update - The Amarillo Zoo does not have any armadillos. Darn that luck.

One of my coworkers made the joke that before he moved here his son thought that our city was actually Armadillo instead of Amarillo. That is understandable. So should that mean we are overrun by armadillos? To be honest I know I have never seen one.

I know that is not the case for everyone here in the Amarillo area. I see more possums in our area then any armadillo sighting. I think I would rather come face-to-face to an armadillo. When they get scared they can roll up into a ball.

That is a much nicer outcome than when a possum gets scared. There is nothing scarier then heading out to the backyard and running into a possum that just starts hissing at you and showing those teeth. I know they are harmless but dang they are scary.

I take that back I have seen one armadillo in Amarillo. I used to take my daughter out to the Dilla Villa. That is where we have run into the Dilla Dude before an Amarillo Dilla game. That is all that I can claim to have seen one in the area.

Animals You Can Hunt Year Round in Texas

Certain animals can be hunted in the Lone Star State all year round. However, there are still rules put in place by the Texas Parks and Wildlife that have to be followed or you are breaking the law.
