Back in March of 2025, an accident involving a semi truck and the Batteries Plus location at I40 and Paramount in Amarillo totally destroyed the store. They have been closed and down to one location in Amarillo, on Coulter Street, since.

I remember that night well, as I was a passenger in a vehicle that got into an accident as well. While I was driving my friend home after his car was totaled, I saw the sea of flashing lights at Batteries Plus

A Year in Limbo: The Aftermath of the 2025 Semi-Truck Crash

It's been almost a year of dealing with insurance and all of that, but it seems the rebuilding may finally be starting to happen. My daughter drove by and said it looks like they are in the stage of tearing down the building.

I had to check it out myself. As I drove by, I noticed two things. Yes, the building is finally being worked on. The front sign of the building that was once lying on the ground, after the accident, is gone.

Demolition Day: K3 Construction Moves onto Paramount

The area is still fenced in, but there is construction equipment present for the teardown. Given the extent of the damage, the project will require a complete demolition and total rebuild.

I also noticed a new construction company's sign posted. They are now the ones handling the project. K3 Construction is now on the job. That means all of the dealings with insurance must finally be over.

What’s Next for Batteries Plus in Amarillo?

They started the process just last week, and it's definitely been noticed. They are bringing it down. I reached out to find out the estimated timeline for the project to be completed.

I heard back from K3 Construction, and they gave us a few details:

Batteries Plus local ownership were leasing the building but is purchasing the property now. Demolition should be finalized by the end of next week.

Then the next step is rebuilding, and we are waiting to hear more about that from the Batteries Plus people. We are certainly happy to see the project starting and that mess of a building finally coming down, so we can get a nice new building in its place.
