Big Honor Goes to Amarillo Man Who Gives Back in Every Way
There are times where you notice greatness in Amarillo and you want and get to be a part of it. I have been watching on social media as the name Tremaine Brown has become even bigger than it has been.
If you have been living under a rock let me tell you about Tremaine. He runs Shi Lee's BBQ and Soul Food on 3rd Ave. That of course takes up a lot of his time but Tremaine spends all of the rest of his time raising his daughter and making her prouder and prouder every day.
See Tremaine does so much for the community. He and Shi Lee's help host many events for the area including huge Easter Egg Hunts, Back-to-School events, and trunk or treats. He also gives out food to those who need it and helps provide for Christmas. Tremaine is a giver.
Last year Tremaine was nominated by Jo Lynn Miller, for Hero of the Month through 7 Brew Coffee. He received the honor back in August which then put him in the running for the 7 Brew National Hero of the Year award. That is when I started seeing all of the talk.
Tremaine started campaigning for votes. It wasn't hard to see all of his accomplishments and then head online to vote for him. Which I, and apparently most of Amarillo jumped in to help and vote.
Tremaine felt the love of Amarillo through the voting process:
I want to thank everyone who voted, shared, and prayed for me during the 7Brew National Neighborhood Hero campaign! Even if I don't win, I absolutely feel like I did! It was truly amazing to see my city, all walks of life, all races, all generations, just everyone showing me and my mission such a tremendous amount of love. The mission is in a better place, regardless. 7Brew will announce the winner sometime next week.
It's an honor. I thank Jo Lynn Miller for nominating me in the first place and Amarillo for blowing up 7Brew's voting system. There's still lots of work to do.
What he has accomplished by taking one step and then the next step and leaning in on his faith... the example that he's setting for not only his daughter ...but what other people in our community can follow is without question unparalleled... he's creating a legacy that we should all be proud of.
