One thing Amarillo has going for it is a TON of different food options.

Some of them are phenomenal, local, and delicious.

There always seems to be one that stands above the rest though, and for good reason. When it comes to burgers, Blue Sky Burgers is what everyone talks about. I mean, it was the first place I was taken for a meal when I arrived in Amarillo.

I've been back several times since then, and continue to try different things on the menu. As I do this, I wonder to myself what is it that makes these burgers so good?

Well I know I'm not the only one. Every restaurant has its own recipes for things, and some of them are held extremely close to the vest. Old family recipes that have been around for generations. Some have been updated a touch, some are 100 years old.

I was bouncing around Reddit when I stumbled upon a post about Blue Sky, so naturally, it grabbed my attention.

Someone asked where the former or current employees were so they could snag the recipe from them. Smart play.

It started with a conversation about how the buns made the burger and who made those. Scroll down and you see something where you stop, look and think.

The user mentioned they worked there in high school and said the key ingredients are garlic powder, onion powder, and seasoning salt. We never do get the full recipe though. No mention of how much Blue Sky uses of each, what the ratio is, etc. The user mentioned they use equal parts of everything, but no confirmation as to whether or not that's how Blue Sky does it.

So while we may not have the EXACT recipe, we at least have a start right? Let me know if you nail it, then share with the class please.
