The annual Boy Scouts Scouting for Food is happening this year.

What is scouting for food?

Scouting for Food is where local Boy Scout Troops come through the neighborhood collecting non-perishable food items to donate to the High Plains Food Bank.

What can I do to help?

They Boy Scouts will be picking up food on Saturday, March 26th.  Before you go to bed on Friday or when you get up on Saturday morning, just leave a bag full of non-perishable food items on your doorstep or by your mailbox. Boy Scout Troops in your neighborhood will begin picking up these food items around 8am. You might even get a reminder notice a few days before on your door.

This is a great project for the Boy Scouts, plus it helps feed those that are hungry in Amarillo and the Texas Panhandle.

“Scouts learn the Scout Law which teaches that a Scout is helpful. The annual Scouting for Food drive is a fun way for scouts to make a valuable impact on the community,” said Michael Lopez, Golden Eagle District Executive. “Last year, Scouts in the Golden Eagle District raised 13,862 meals. This year we are expanding our efforts to include High Plains Food Bank community partners at the WT Catholic Student Center in Canyon, the Hereford Church of the Nazarene, and Calvary Baptist Church in Friona as we push to raise 20,000 meals.”

Food items you can donate:

Canned Vegetables
Canned Fruit
Canned proteins
Bagged rice
Bagged beans
Boxed Dinners
Peanut Butter
Please no frozen foods or glass containers

If you do not have a Boy Scout come by your house, you can drop your donations off at the High Plains Food Bank at 815 S. Ross on Saturday, March 26th from 9am-12n
