There is a lot to be said about Amarillo. Just like anywhere else, there are good things and bad. If you focus on the things that make us different from everywhere else, you will see the joy.

From Cadillac Ranch to Backyard Signs: Our City’s Quirky Identity

There is a lot that makes us different. There is nowhere else that you can try your luck eating that 72 oz. steak. You can't go anywhere else to enjoy a hike in Palo Duro Canyon.

Amarillo is the only place where you can take spray paint to both Cadillac Ranch and Slug Bug Ranch. We just have some of the quirkiest things that make us who we are. People come from all over to experience these things that we have in our backyard.

Some people even have really cool things in their backyard that many don't. Those Stanley Marsh signs popped up all over the place in the 1990s. Over the years, some negativity has surrounded those signs.

The Legacy of the Dynamite Boys: Brian Deneke’s Handiwork

I think we should enjoy them for what they are, an unusual part of Amarillo. The art project that those signs were a part of also happened to be the handiwork of Brian Deneke. It was part of the 'Dynamite Museum.'

Seeing those signs still around Amarillo puts a smile on my face. As I am out delivering food to different parts of Amarillo, if I see a sign, I snap a photo. I have taken several photos of several signs, but have not come anywhere close to finding them all.

Scavenger Hunt: Tracking Down 3,000 Quirky Signs

There are still around 3,000 scattered across Amarillo. The best part is you don't know when you are going to spot one, so you have to keep your eyes open and pay attention. They have so many weird sayings, it just makes the scavenger hunt a lot of fun.

Amarillo is the type of place that keeps you guessing and keeps you entertained.

Even More Stanley Marsh Signs

Every time I turn around I find more and more of these signs around Amarillo.
