Dasher Diary: A Huge Payout for New Dashers in Amarillo
When I first signed up to DoorDash in Amarillo it was a waiting game. I got a notification that there were too many Dashers in my area and I had to wait. So wait I did. I mean I wasn't even sure that this was something I wanted to try. So no big deal.
Then a month or so later I got the email that I could sign up to Dash. I did all of the work necessary. Filled out the stuff, sent in my car info and insurance, and waited for the green light. I started dashing in August of 2023.
So I have been at it for over fifteen months. In the time that I have been dashing I have had other friends interested in trying it out. Some even went as far as downloading the app and trying to get in. None of them had been successful. Too many dashers.
Now in the meantime, some of them got in the program and some decided it wasn't worth it. I get it. I really do. I also have been watching all of the hoops that DoorDash makes you jump through if you want to keep your numbers up. Supposedly you get better orders if you are a Platinum Dasher.
I only care about the fact that as a Platinum Dasher, you can jump on the app and dash whenever you want. You don't have to schedule out or wait for a spot to open. I thought the fact that Amarillo had a high acceptance rate needed to be Platinum. In Amarillo, you have to be at 80, whereas in most other places you just need a 70 acceptance rate.
I think the changes were to weed out some of the not-so-good dashers. Maybe the ones who don't care about your food. They are the ones possibly stealing food at restaurants or snacking on your fries. The ones getting complaints. Whatever the case may be.
In the fifteen months I have been dashing there has been a place to refer a friend to dash. Never in the fifteen months has that been available in Amarillo, until now. Their program seems to have a pretty nice payout if the conditions are met.
We, as dashers, have so many days to refer a friend and they sign up. Then if that person completes 290 deliveries in 60 days that is when the payout starts. The dasher who referred and got the person signed up will get $900. The new dasher will get paid a $600 bonus.
Are those numbers doable? Absolutely. Basically the new dasher will have to make about 145 each 30 days. Yes, you will have to have the time to dedicate to dashing but for an extra $600 as a new dasher on top of the money they will make delivering, it's not a bad deal.
Before you decide to be a Karen, it has happened when writing other stories, no I am not utilizing the refer-a-dasher rewards. So don't try to turn me into DoorDash for putting this out there.
So if you are a dasher who referred friends, good luck. If you are a new dasher we wish you luck too. Let the miles be short and the tips be large.
