Dasher Diary: Another Senseless Delivery in Amarillo
Delivering food in Amarillo has been a great way to make extra money. I have been doing this side hustle for over a year now. Every now and then an order comes through that just doesn't make sense.
Luckily it doesn't happen a lot or I will lose it. When it does happen it just makes me wonder who is in charge of this computer program and how much money did they waste developing it?
I was out delivering food on Saturday when I received an order to pick up from Sonic and deliver it off of Western Street near Olsen Boulevard. OK, that wasn't too far from where I was at that moment. There is a Sonic near me on Georgia Street.
Even if they didn't have me pick up from there that was OK since there is one on Western near Tascosa High School. Even that pickup would make sense. What they had me do instead is still making me scratch my head.
I had to travel from where I was sitting in front of the Five Guys on Georgia. Again, near the Sonic on Georgia Street. I was to pick up this order from the Sonic on Ross Street. What? I had to travel from Georgia Street to Ross Street.
I mean nevermind that I40 has been a mess with construction. You can't even get on I40 East from Georgia Street. You have to travel up to the Crockett Street entrance. Then you have to fight with the traffic on the highway. All when the food could have been picked up from either of the other two locations.
So then I thought maybe it was a difficult order and I needed to go to that location. I mean maybe. Nope, all the customer needed was a slushie and a pretzel twist. So why couldn't I pick it up from the Western Street Sonic just down the street from the customer?
Make it make sense, please.
