Dasher Diary – A New Request Thrown at Delivery Drivers in Amarillo, Texas
It seems every time I turn around there are new things thrown at us delivery drivers in Amarillo. They wanted us to start taking photos of some of the customer's receipts. Not sure why but I do it.
Then another time they wanted us to have the restaurant open up the sealed bag and show us each and every item in the bag. That lasted for a short time because it was a dumb request. A busy restaurant does not have time to reopen a bag and go through each and every item.
That was ridiculous and I am sure got plenty of complaints from delivery drivers and restaurants. So the next thing they threw at us was kind of on the same lines. They want us to verify orders. I guess they want us to be able to be the one to blame if food is missing.
We will first see the "Verify Order" button at the bottom of the screen as we are at the restaurant picking up the order. So once we click on that we get to the next step.
I love the fact that at the top it does say for us not to open sealed bags. This is different from the last time they wanted us to verify. They wanted us to have the restaurant do that, they always said, no.
We either confirm that the order is in the bag, if it is not sealed. Or we have to tell DoorDash that we can't verify the order.
This is where the blame gets taken off of us. We simply tell them what the problem is. Usually,
the bag is sealed and then we can go on our way. Which is what I do. Now if there is a problem they can't blame us.
I like it when that is the case. We only get about $2 a delivery from DoorDash so not really enough to want to be blamed for anything extra.
