There are some days when the stars align here in Amarillo to make something like this happen. I hate the fact that people can be like this but I also am thrilled that I got to have a little dasher justice.

Now before you jump on me and say if you don't like the pay then find another job. I have another job. I just don't like to be lied to and this is what this customer blatantly did. So even DoorDash felt I was right in my actions. I did tell them what I did.

As a driver for delivery services, I am a contract laborer so that means I work when I want. I can decline any order I want. DoorDash or Uber Eats is not my boss. I don't have one. Yes, I can lose my access to deliver if I do something wrong but this was not wrong.

On Sunday I got a delivery, and I was delivering by time, so I don't see the tip until after I drop off the food. The message from the customer said they would tip me after I made the delivery. I didn't believe that because most people don't. This customer put it in the instructions so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I was making the delivery anyway.

I made the delivery. I watched the customer come out to get the food as I was turning around in the street. Then I waited. I was hoping he would keep his word but nope, he flat-out lied to me.

I added him to my list of no-tip customers and went on my business. Until later on in the day. As the DoorDash gods blessed me with this order. It was the same customer. It was the same address, and it was the same message. He would tip me after delivery.

I had already accepted the order. I didn't want to hurt my acceptance rate. Then I decided to just wait and wait. I waited until the food was late being picked up and I unassigned the order. It just means now they had to find a new dasher to bring him his food. Yes, his food will be late.

Sure it is petty. Don't lie to me. If you are not going to tip then own it. Don't put that in the instructions. We don't see it right away anyway. It doesn't help you. Just don't lie. Yes, I told DoorDash why I was unassigned. No, I am not in trouble for it. That is my right.

I felt a twinge of pride doing this. I mean don't be a jerk. Isn't the saying fool me once, shame on you but fool me twice. Well, you know the rest.

Amarillo's Georgia Street and All It's Changes

The streets of Amarillo have changed a lot. Georgia Street used to be the place to buy a car. Now it has everything.
