I have been officially delivering food in Amarillo through DoorDash or Uber Eats for a year now. I am no longer a newbie. I have my stuff figured out. Well, at least I thought I did. Until the end of last week, they changed it all up.

Oh, DoorDash, they are surely trying to keep us on our toes. Late last week they introduced the new tier system for deliveries. We used to strive to be Top Dasher. That was the way that we could open up the app anytime we wanted and start dashing. We didn't have to schedule like those less than us. We were top.

Welcome to Tier Level Dashing

We received an email about the system warning us. Other markets have been on this for a while now. I have been watching other dashers describe it. They got to be the guinea pigs. Now it is our time.

If you are a dasher you got the email and have already been moved to this tier system. You are either going to be considered silver, gold, or platinum. Each level has perks. Each level has requirements.

The goal is to be platinum. That is where all the great perks are. You have top priority for the higher-paying offers. You also get priority access to large orders which usually also comes with higher tips.

You also have to keep an acceptance rate of eighty percent to keep this level. If you dip below you move down to gold. You also have to have over one hundred deliveries, which has always been the case but it used to be by calendar month. So if you took a week off in July you usually had some time to make it up.

Now it's in thirty days so if you take a week off you have to right away come back and bust it. You don't have any time to waste. I am not quite sure how I like this right now. The acceptance rate is also a killer. You used to only have to have a seventy percent acceptance to have top dasher in thirty days.

Now you need eighty percent to be platinum and you don't have a grace period if it dips down. No waiting until the end of the month. Nope, you have to start busting it right away. I am not sure how I like this yet. The honeymoon phase is ok because they gave us all platinum levels.

I am sitting at seventy-seven percent acceptance so it's just a matter of time before they rip that away from me. Ugh, did I mention how much I hate change?
