Dasher Diary: Recent Delivery Gone Wrong in Amarillo
Since I have been doing delivery services such as DoorDash and Uber Eats one of the recurring themes is as a customer always verify your address. Trust me, it takes just a few seconds and can save a lot of headaches.
This can especially be a problem if you sometimes have food delivered to your home and sometimes you switch it up. Maybe you want lunch one day at work. Maybe you are at a friends house and you want dinner and you are the only one with an account.
It is always important that you take the time to check your delivery address, just in case. This recent delivery once again screams, please check your address. I was out delivering on Friday night when an order came in.
The first step is to see where I am delivering. It's to a school. OK, maybe they are having an event that evening. Not a big deal. I looked at a former delivery picture and it shows a door to the school. This seems like it could be ok.
I went to pick up the food and then I headed to drop it off. I got to the school and wasn't sure which door I was supposed to drop it off at. Sometimes you can tell, I could not this time. So I sent a text to the customer.
That is when we both realized she did not update her address. While I was on the phone waiting for support she must have gotten another message from another dasher. She had two orders and two different delivery drivers.
I was delivering by time so I didn't mind waiting. I told her I would grab the food from the other driver and meet her husband. The other driver was appreciative because he was delivering by order and his staying there would take away from another delivery.
I grabbed his food and put it in the bag with mine and had him take a photo and then go. I did let my customer know that I was using her story on the radio. She just laughed. Her husband did too.
Things happen but the moral of this story is always check, and check again, to make sure you have the correct delivery address.
