Nothing is worse than getting a pay cut in Amarillo. I remember the year I started a new job in town. They offered me a certain amount to leave my current job. I was at that job for a few months before the company issued pay cuts across the company and I lost all of the money I was offered to leave my former employee. So that was fun.

I got a little notice that these pay cuts were coming. I received a pay cut from DoorDash and had no idea it was coming. Depending on how you work for DoorDash it may not affect you at all.

If you get paid by offer then nothing has changed. You get paid two dollars per delivery and then whatever the tip was. It can be a nice pay or it can really not be worth it. It just depends on the customer. There was a time that those deliveries were $2.50 so those deliveries took a pay cut earlier as well.

I know DoorDash is still making money so why mess with us? We are the ones that keep your food safe and delivered. DoorDash needs us. Why are they continuously hitting us where it hurts?

The latest pay cut has come to those of us that deliver by time. The way it works is up until a week or so ago a dasher was paid $14.50 an hour plus tips. Now that is figured by the time you accept the order until you drop off the food to the residence or business.

So if it takes you twenty minutes to drive to the restaurant, pick up the food, and drop it off then essentially you will make $4.83 plus tips. Now mind you DoorDash knows that you are getting guaranteed pay so they usually end up sending those Dashers the non-tippers or the long drives to the customer's home.

Now all of a sudden they are only paying Dashers by time $14.25 per hour. This means for a twenty-minute delivery we only make around $4.74. I know that doesn't seem like much of a difference but it adds up fast. In a weeks time that can be close to a hundred-dollar difference, could be more.

DoorDash is not losing money here. No, it's us who are trying our best to make extra money. Come on DoorDash stop being so cheap.
