Did Amarillo Lose Another Place? Or Will it Be Coming Back?

If there is something going on with a restaurant here in Amarillo we try to be in the know. Places open and close here so fast that sometimes it is hard to try to keep up. Oh, but we try.

There was some buzz earlier about El Tropico on Grand Street. We have that location and one on Amarillo Boulevard. The question was what happened to the one on Grand Street and will it ever open back up?

It seems there was a fire earlier this spring that caused them to close down. There may be some remodeling going on. So that could really be some good news for ice cream lovers in the area.

Checking out their Facebook page for the Grand location they have not posted anything since May.

Their post says it is just temporary but nothing since May. If you check out their website page the good news is that the Grand Street location is still listed.

It's been a couple of months since the fire or whatever it was that closed them down. A remodel does take some time. It has been a couple of months but it looks like the answer is that the closing is temporary.

We have not found anything else that leads us to think they are gone for good. There will once again be all of the ice cream, ice pops, and drinks you have grown to love. We will just keep an eye out for any changes to their status.
