This Fan-Favorite Hot Dog Is Heating Up Amarillo Sod Poodles Games
The one thing I didn't realize about moving to the Amarillo area as a kid was that some of the tastes of home would not be readily available here. Now, that was then, and this is now. Yes, it is still hard to get White Castle burgers, and you can't go just anywhere to get a Chicago dog or Chicago-style pizza.
It has gotten better, but there are still things from my home that I miss. When I can get the real deal here, I jump at it. So I get it. Finding that perfect back home meal is important when you move to the area.
So I get how big of a deal this is for some people who are from California. Those who are transplants who grew up watching the Los Angeles Dodgers. I can respect that even if I despise the team.
That hatred for the Dodgers comes from being a true Atlanta Braves fan and the rivalry that comes with them stealing Freddie Freeman from us. Though that hatred grew long before that, I will say that I get excited when one of your beloved food items makes it to Amarillo.
The Famous Dodger Dog is Coming to Hodgetown
The Amarillo Sod Poodles made the announcement recently that as the Los Angeles Dodger's Double A team from Tulsa was making its way to Amarillo that a taste of heaven that usually fills Dodger Stadium will be coming to Amarillo too. The Dodger Dog.
Some people won't get it because it's just a hot dog with a lot of basic ingredients, but it's a taste of home. Yes, I will admit that I have been to LA, yes, I have been to Dodger Stadium, and yes, I have had a Dodger Dog; it won't take the place of my Chicago Dog at all, but I get it.
So you have until Tulsa leaves Amarillo at the conclusion of Sunday's game to get out to Hodgetown and enjoy a Dodger Dog. If you have had one before, you can relive that moment; if you haven't, you just need to try one. This is coming from someone who can't stand the Dodgers.
