Dasher Diary: New DoorDash Platinum Pass in Amarillo Lets You Bounce Back

Every evening when I am through with my day in Amarillo, I go through and get things ready for the next day. I check all of my emails, my calendar, and my notes, and make sure I am prepared. I then open up my delivery apps and check my numbers.

Evening Routine: Checking Your Dasher Stats

Recently, when I went to check my stats on DoorDash, I noticed something new. Usually, I will notice a new rating from a customer. They can rate you at any time, so I usually notice a new one during my evening recap.

Spotlight on a New DoorDash Perk: Platinum Pass

That is not what I saw. There was a new listing under my Dasher Rewards. Something I have heard them talking about on TikTok, but not something that had made its way to Amarillo, until now.

Apparently now you can earn a Platinum Pass. It's a new perk. Basically, if you already have Platinum status and you are in fear of losing your status, you can call a mulligan. If you have earned a pass, you can turn it in for seven free days of platinum status.

You then use those seven days to get all of your numbers back up to Platinum status. The rankings you need for Platinum in Amarillo are an acceptance rate of 80 percent or better. You also have to have one hundred deliveries in the past 30 days.

So if either of those numbers dips down, you go down to either gold or silver. The big thing about losing that status is your ability to deliver whenever you want without scheduling. Rumor is also that you get better offers depending on your status.

Why This Perk Matters

So why is this a big deal? If you have a bad week and have to decline a lot of orders for different reasons, you can use a pass and get those seven days of good orders. Or if you plan to take some days off and you don't have those one hundred deliveries, you can keep your status and use those seven days to make those deliveries and get those numbers back.

What I don't like about this perk is the timing. I mean, I have had Platinum status for about a year now, and I have to start earning the perk now. I can't use my past year or even the past few months as a base, no. I have to start new.

The message says:

Get a Platinum Pass every four weeks you dash with Platinum status, up to three passes total. Use a pass to keep your Platinum level rewards for one week if you don't meet the rewards level requirements.

 

My Takeaway: A Welcome Safety Net

So in the end, this is a good thing for delivery drivers to get a much-needed do-over. I look forward to earning my first pass soon.
