This is just disheartening in a day and age where these threats become reality too often. Over the last week or so, there have been numerous fake threats called into schools in the Amarillo area, most recently a bomb threat at a middle school.

Let me tell you something. I lived in Colorado when the mass shooting happened at Columbine. It was one of the scariest moments of my life. No, I wasn't a student at the school, in fact I had already graduated high school. My brother however was a student at a high school near the area still, and they were immediately placed on lockdown. Not having any kind of precedent for this sort of thing, it was tense moments.

Now as a parent, I can tell you my greatest fear about my kids going to school is violence or attacks at a school my kids are in. Just a week and a half ago, there was a stabbing that took place at Palo Duro High. Now, we have someone calling in fake bomb threats amongst other things to other schools. When does it stop? I can assure you, no one finds it funny.

The Amarillo Student Crime Stoppers are asking for your help. They are working to identify the individual making these baseless threats and ask that if you have any info on this and may have a lead, contact them at (806) 372-8477. If your information leads to identifying the individual responsible for this, it could be worth $1,000 to you.
