It's been a pretty brutal summer this year in Amarillo. It is definitely going out with a bang. I mean we have seen many records being broken in the area. We have seen high temperatures smashing previous records. We have seen triple-digit temperatures more days than we would have cared to.

A mind-blowing ten days in a row with temperatures soaring over one hundred. That left a lot of us yearning for cooler temperatures. When collectively we are celebrating temperatures in the nineties as a cool down, we know it has been hot.

Luckily as we are inching closer to September we can probably put those days behind us. We can start getting used to a little bit cooler weather to enjoy. We are also going to increase our chances of seeing rain in the area. Something else we haven't seen in a bit.

Rain and cooler temperatures, what a way to kick off a much-needed three-day weekend. The best part is we may not even see one day hit ninety in the next several days. Not bad at all when triple-digit is what we have been getting used to. I mean as much as we could get used to something like that.

I remember talking to my mom, who lives in Phoenix, during that stretch of weather and her celebrating their cooler weather. What is wrong with that picture? Amarillo getting over one hundred for all of those days and people in Phoenix actually being able to go outside and enjoy the weather. That is not right.

Luckily our cool down is upon us. Enjoy it for a bit. Just know soon you will be complaining about how cold it is. We know it's going to happen.
