Oh, Amarillo. I remember when we only had one Chick-fil-A in our city. I remember when you had to go out to Westgate Mall to get that holy chicken. You would walk in and they would bombard you with free samples.

You knew you were not going to escape without stopping at their place in the mall and grabbing some nuggets or a sandwich. It just had that kind of hold on you. Then over the years, Chick-fil-A started its takeover.

We now have three other Chick-fil-A's in our city besides the original one in Westgate Mall. That number is about to change. We have been watching the newest location at 58th and Georgia as it progressed from a clump of dirt into the majestic Chick-fil-A that it is now.

We followed as they started the hiring process. They are still hiring if you know someone looking for a job. Which can only mean one thing. It is getting ready to open. As I drove by recently the sign outside gave us the great news. Yes, the opening date is nearing.

I mean it is really near. The anticipation is building. The sign announced that the first day of operation is Thursday, September 26th. So that is soon. That is this week. That is Thursday.

How does Chick-fil-A celebrate a grand opening? Well with chicken of course. Our city gets to celebrate another location, and for some, a closer location to get their chicken needs met. They also do greatness in the community. According to their website:

To celebrate a new restaurant opening, the Chick-fil-A® Operator selects 100 Community Heroes making an impact in their local community and honors recipients with free Chick-fil-A entrees for a year (52 offers). At this time, our restaurants are not accepting nominations for our Community Heroes First 100® event, but please know that all local heroes are considered. Please visit the restaurant’s Facebook page after they open to learn more about the local heroes that were honored.

So the wait is almost over. We will now have five Chick-fil-A locations as of Thursday. Wow isn't this a wonderful place to be?

Amarillo's Georgia Street and All It's Changes

The streets of Amarillo have changed a lot. Georgia Street used to be the place to buy a car. Now it has everything.
