When prices seem to be going up for everything it can get a bit stressful. How can you afford the stuff you need? I mean it's not like our paychecks are going up. So we have to find a way to juggle what we have to pay for what we need.

Living in Texas we are at least saved money in the fact that we don't have to file a state income tax. That is pretty nice. The cost of living is very important in how expensive a place is to live. Of course, we also have to have a car to get to work. If not we have to rely on public transportation. It still costs though.

So where does Amarillo fall when we are talking about affordable places to live in Texas? Are we really considered affordable? Are there any cities that are in the Panhandle that we can consider to be a place we can work and afford to live?

According to Discover Top Ten Places, we have a couple of choices in the Texas Panhandle.

When we look at the list Amarillo does indeed get included. We finish at number eight. It goes on to say that we are nine percent lower than the Texas average when it comes to the cost of living,

Not only that but it ends up being sixteen percent lower to purchase a home in Amarillo than anywhere else in Texas. So if you want that American dream of homeownership it is a little easier living here.

Amarillo is not the only city in the Texas Panhandle to be included in this list. If you are wanting a smaller-town feeling you can always consider Pampa. They finished fourth on the list. In Pampa, the cost of living is sixteen percent lower than anywhere else in Texas. Homeownership is also a possibility.

Things are looking good for us in this great state of Texas.
