Is This the End of This Holiday Favorite in Amarillo?
There was a slight panic that set in recently as I was doing my holiday shopping in Amarillo. I use this time to remind my daughter of the one-holiday item I am on the hunt for every year. She always laughs because she knows there is no way she can forget. It's the one easy gift for me every year.
The funny thing is even though I remind my daughter every year I already know as I find them around town I will buy them up for myself too. What is this mystery must-have gift? The holiday Candy Cane Chapstick. It is on the shelves every year and it is a must-have because it is the only Chapstick I use.
You can ask me at any point throughout the year to see what Chapstick I have in my pocket and I don't care if it's July I have the candy cane Chapstick in my pocket. I stock up at this time of year and keep them tucked neatly away until I need a new tube.
I went to my stash the other day and noticed I was getting low. That is when I sent the text to my daughter. I also realized I would be heading to the stores I usually grab them from so I would be ok until I got to the stores.
I couldn't find them at Walmart. I even searched the app and there were none at any of our local stores. None that I could order and have shipped unless I wanted them from a 3rd party vendor for way more than they were worth. I then headed to Walgreens, none there either.
I searched at Target and then went to search online. The Chapstick website directed me to Walmart, Target, Walgreens, and Amazon. I tried most of those locations already. So then I tried the tried and trusted Amazon. They would be able to help me, right? Nope.
I am in more than a slight panic now. My daughter couldn't find them in Dallas either. What am I going to do? I knew at some point this would be an issue. I am not ready for this right now.
I am going to keep hunting and sparingly use what I have in my possession right now. I have twelve unopened ones right now. I have four opened ones stashed in different areas at home, work, and the car. I have to find a way to make these last.
UPDATE: I got a text the other day letting me know that the Walgreens on Georgia had some. So I went on a mission. I was walking around searching and an employee asked what I was looking for. Before I knew it I had six Walgreens employees helping me on the search. We found the three-pack with one candy cane and two other holiday favorites that I did not want. Didn't want to spend the money to buy three when I only wanted one.
We were not done with the hunt. There was a box with seven Chapsticks found on the counter in photos. I grabbed the whole box. I still am looking for more. If anyone has seen these Candy Cane Chapsticks anywhere in Amarillo PLEASE let me know, I beg of you.
