Amarillo, Texas is blessed with an abundance of parks. My kids love them, and the parks have provided many an afternoon full of good times for my family. It's the same for a lot of families in the area. Unfortunately, the parks can get a little messy thanks to the inconsiderate "few" who like to leave their trash lying around. This month, we've got an opportunity to dig in and help clean up one of our parks before the summer.

The Thompson Park Clean-Up Day Is Back In Amarillo!

This month marks the return of the annual Thompson Park clean-up day in Amarillo. Amarillo Parks and Recreation will be hosting the event, and they're asking for as many volunteers as possible to show up and lend a helping hand.

It will be on Saturday, April 20. Volunteers will spend a little bit of time on that Saturday going through Thompson Park and picking up trash. It's an opportunity for us to have a hand in keeping our parks clean.

It's A Shame We Need Clean-Up Days At All

As great as our parks can be, it's a shame we need clean-up days at all. I've written in the past about parks in our area and the messes that some people make of them. I have a hard time understanding why it is so hard to make sure you take care of your trash before you leave after a day at the park.

In the meantime, this is a great chance to take the kids out and spend some time doing something that will benefit the community as a whole.
