Popular Canyon Venue Shuts Down, Amarillo Favorite Set to Take Over the Space

You know the old adage: when one door closes, another one opens. That sentiment perfectly describes what's happening in Canyon. The city experienced tremendous growth in 2024, and that momentum is showing no signs of slowing down in 2025. While some businesses may have closed their doors, new opportunities and ventures are already stepping in to take their place, continuing Canyon's exciting evolution.

The Shell

The Shell, an event venue in Canyon, Texas, holds a special place in the heart of the community. Located on the south side of the square at 1519 4th Avenue, The Shell served as an intimate and charming space for a variety of celebrations. From weddings and bridal showers to baby showers, anniversaries, and other milestones, it was the perfect setting for Canyon residents to create cherished memories. Its warmth and versatility made it a beloved spot for life's special moments.

On December 18, 2024, the owners announced that they would be closing the doors and retiring.

The Building Won't Be Vacant Long

Another chapter is set to begin at The Shell's location, as a new business already has plans to move in. This business, which has been successfully operating in Amarillo since 2016, is now expanding its presence to Canyon. The change marks a fresh opportunity for the community while continuing to build on the space's legacy of bringing people together.

The Acai Bar

The Acai Bar is moving into Canyon.  This will mark the 4th store location for The Acai Bar in the Texas Panhandle.

When Are They Opening in Canyon?

We reached out to The Acai Bar to inquire about a tentative opening date, but we had not received a response by the time of publishing.

While it's bittersweet to bid farewell to The Shell, The Acai Bar promises to be an exciting new addition to Canyon, Texas.
