Jorge Posada Retires From The New York Yankees
Tuesday morning January 24 marks the end of Jorge Posada's career with the New York Yankees. He has officially retired from the Pin Stripe baseball giant.
Posada played for the Yankees for 17 years and was part of 5 World Championships. He is adored by fans in New York and around the World.
"Every time I stepped through the Yankee Stadium doors, I always pinched myself," Posada said. "Today is a very emotional day for me."
Posada's retirement comes at the end of a $52 Million dollar contract. This was after he was offered a huge contract to play for the Mets. The Yankees were able to hold on to him until the end of this contract.
"I could never wear another uniform," Posada said. "I was blessed to be a Yankee."
There had been talks that Posada was going to play for another team for the 2012 season.
"I had the idea of going to play somewhere else, but it wasn't in me," Posada said. "I kept telling my agents don't worry about offers, don't worry about teams. I knew in my head, in my heart that I didn't want to play anymore."
