Kids Book About Texas Features Notable Amarillo Location
One thing I can say for sure about my granddaughter is how much she loves to read. She has a room full of toys and we can always find her on the couch reading a book. It is what she enjoys the most. We are definitely not complaining.
When I was in Dallas this past week I grabbed a book to read her at bedtime. It was one that I had never read. Now my daughter did remind me that I bought this book for my grandbaby at Target. I am sure I did. I did not recognize it. I was sure that I would.
Why? This book features a very notable Amarillo location on the cover. It was a book about Texas. The book I read was "I Love You as Big as Texas." A book about Texas. That was pretty cool. On the cover, right there on the cover was The Big Texan.
Yes, if you drive anywhere in Texas you see the billboards about the free 72 oz steak (if eaten in one hour). The funny thing about this book is there are several pages that show things in Texas but also has another picture of The Big Texan. Part of me thought that maybe the folks at The Big Texan were a big sponsor of this book. Did Bobby Lee pay the author Rose Rossner for this much love in this book?
I am not sure I just know there are at least 3 or 4 images of our Amarillo restaurant in this book. Don't believe me?
That is three different pages right there. Not any other Texas landmark has as much face time as The Big Texan. here is another one.
The page that mentions Amarillo does not have an image of The Big Texan which I did find to be funny.
I am not mad at all about the love shown to The Big Texan. I found it funny every time there was a picture my granddaughter would say "Amarillo" and "Happy Birthday". She remembers that we went there for my birthday last year. She remembers and associates Amarillo and birthdays with The Big Texan.
If you need a great book to read to your own child and grandchild yep I would recommend picking up a copy of this one. Apparently I got it at Target but you can also find it on Amazon.
