Looking For Something To Do Labor Day Weekend In Amarillo?
Labor Day is one of those tricky holidays where people don't get together like the 4th of July of Memorial Day. It's also not one of those holidays that finds itself with a lot of targeted things to do wrapped around the holiday.
It doesn't mean though that there aren't activities and different things going on! In fact, there are a few cool things going on around Amarillo for the three day weekend that you and the whole family can participate in.
FIRST FRIDAY ART WALK
This kicks off the Labor Day festivities in the city, and it's actually something that is held every month. It's called the First Friday Art Walk and it happens at Arts in the Sunset off of Plains Blvd. You'll get to look at some of the local art that's being created here in the 806, and enjoy some live entertainment along the way. New artwork is exhibited each month, so make this the first of many trips to it!
DWIGHT YOAKAM CONCERT
If you're in the mood to kick up your heels a bit, country superstar Dwight Yoakam is performing live at the Amarillo Civic Center Friday night. Yoakam is one of the most decorated country music artists in history and has fan favorites such as "A Thousand Miles From Nowhere" and "Guitars, Cadillacs". Tickets are still available here.
15TH ANNUAL CRIME STOPPERS CAR SHOW
Calling all car lovers! The Crime Stoppers Car Show is back on Saturday morning at the Amarillo Civic Center. The festivities kick off at 10 am and will feature some of the coolest cars you've seen around town, and plenty that you may not have. General admission into the show is only $5 and children 10 and under are free. A great way to kick off your Saturday.
WONDERLAND
It's your last chance to make it out and ride the roller coasters and other rides at Wonderland. After the Labor Day weekend comes to a close, so does Wonderland until next year. So if you've been saying you were going to go, you can't delay anymore!
