After Months of Waiting, Is This What Moved Into Munchie’s?
We finally received the answer to the saga of Munchie's in Amarillo. Or have we? They had a fire earlier this year, and we thought they might reopen. They did not. Instead, a sign went up saying it was for rent. There went that hope.
What Happened to Munchie’s After the Fire?
We were going to have to get used to the idea of something new possibly moving into the location at 3rd and McMaster. There was talk about it possibly being a new BBQ spot. That was on a post and was a statement from someone owning the building. It seemed possible.

That seemed possible until a new sign appeared on the building. It looks like Munchie's was indeed rented out. There will be new life in that building, and it could be soon.
The New Sign Does it Confirm That Lupita’s Is Here?
If you drive by the former Munchie's location at 3rd and McMasters, you will notice the new sign. It says "Lupita's". Now that name is one we know in this area. There have been a few around town.
What to Expect From the Menu at Lupita’s
There’s a location right around the corner from our radio stations where we grab breakfast burritos. So knowing that they are not a new concept leaves no question as to what we will be able to find on the menu. Or does it?
We expect it to be Mexican food and good food at that. We have never been disappointed in the food we get here. I mean, good salsa is the test of any good meal, and they pass it.
The location is open. I took a drive by recently, and there were plenty of cars in the parking lot, and the open sign was flashing. A good sign that they are open and ready to serve Amarillo. There is just some weirdness in the location.
If you are in the area of 3rd and McMaster's, have you noticed anything off with this location? More to follow.
