We have had a heck of a year in Amarillo, haven't we? The crazy thing is, it's still not over. We have more time for things to change. We can still add new places that are opening. We could see some surprise closings before the year ends.

Amarillo Has Faced a Wild Year — and It’s Still Not Over

We sure weren’t expecting the longest government shutdown when the year began, but here we are. We survived that, too. Luckily, we had places in the Amarillo area that jumped in and helped those affected.

Even though that is behind us now, there are still people trying to get back on their feet. Trying to get back to where they were before. That means there are still places helping.

How Malcolm’s Stepped Up During the Shutdown

One place that jumped in to help was Malcolm's Ice Cream & Food. They offered lower prices on some of their food. They lowered the prices of their kids' meals to four dollars. The prices on their adult burger meals were lowered by one dollar. Yes, every bit helps.

The Discount That Helped Families

The good news is that even though the shutdown is officially over, they know things take time to improve.  They shared on social  media that they are continuing the deal for the rest of the month:

Good evening, Amarillo. I know that the government has opened up.... our special for the shutdown will continue to the end of the month to make sure there is an option for you guys to get back to normal. Things just don't get better overnight when some doors open, so we will keep our prices where they are until Nov.30th.

A Perfect Time to Treat the Family to Ice Cream

So there is still time to take the family out and save some money on lunch or dinner. With the savings, maybe you can splurge on more ice cream. You can never go wrong with ice cream from Malcolm's.
