Christmas is the most magical time of the year in Amarillo, when kids light up, and grown-ups remember their childhood wonder. You are never too old to enjoy the Christmas holiday.

The Magic of Christmas in Amarillo

Whether you have kids or not, it's always fun to see the kids around our city getting excited. They make their lists. They go and visit Santa. Kids are all over the city counting down to the big day.

Families go to church. The kids try to stay up late to catch a glimpse of Santa leaving presents. The excitement is too much, and they always fall asleep before he comes. Then, as the kids wake up, they make it to the living room to see what was left under the tree.

There are organizations we can count on to make sure that every kid has a magical Christmas. There are kids' names up on several different Angel Trees around Amarillo with their lists of what would make their Christmas special.

How the Northside Toy Drive Works

There are toy drives and fun events to help collect toys for kids all over our city. One of our city's most anticipated events for the kids is the Northside Toy Drive. They have been collecting new toys to give the kids coming up in December.

They collect toys and bring them all to Palo Duro High School for the big giveaway. What we love about this event is that the parents have to stand back and let the kids go by themselves to pick what they truly want. They go through all of the toys with no outside influence.

Whatever they choose will be that special toy they bring home to play with, and that is what it is all about.

The Northside Toy Drive has announced the date and time for this year's event:

Families are invited to the 13th Annual NorthsideToy Drive Toy Giveaway on Saturday, December 13th at 1 p.m. in the Palo Duro High School Activity Center. Children ages 2-12 MUST be present to choose a Christmas gift. There’s no registration required, so please share with a family in need.

The Northside Toy Drive wants to make sure every kid has a Merry Christmas, and that starts with this event. If you know a family who is in need, this is the time to share the information. Make sure they are at Palo Duro High on December 13th.
